In 2029, no mutants have been born in 25 years. Logan's healing ability has weakened and he has aged; he spends his days drinking and working as a limo driver in El Paso, Texas. In an abandoned smelting plant in northern Mexico, he and mutant tracker Caliban care for Charles Xavier/Professor X; Charles suffers from a brain disease that causes him to have seizures, with destructive effects to others from his telepathic abilities, unless controlled by medication.
Gabriela Lopez, a former nurse for biotechnological corporation Alkali-Transigen, tries to hire Logan to escort her and an 11-year-old girl, Laura Kinney, to Eden, a refuge in North Dakota. By the time Logan reluctantly accepts, Gabriela has been killed. He is confronted at his hideout by Gabriela's killer, Donald Pierce, Transigen's cyborg chief of security, who is looking for Laura. Laura has stowed away in Logan's limo, and has powers just like Logan's. She, Logan and Charles escape Pierce and his Reavers, but Caliban is captured. Pierce then forces Caliban to track Laura down.
Logan and Charles learn from Gabriela's cellphone that Transigen created Laura and other children from mutant DNA samples to turn into weapons, Laura from Logan's DNA. As they proved difficult to control and Transigen found an alternative, the children were to be killed, but Gabriela and other nurses helped some of them escape.
In Oklahoma City, Logan discovers that Eden appears in an X-Men comic in Laura's possession, and assumes it is fictional. The Reavers arrive, but Charles has a seizure and incapacitates everyone in the vicinity. Logan kills the attackers, injects Charles with medication, and they flee. Dr. Zander Rice, head of Transigen, arrives.
Logan, Laura, and Charles help a farming family, the Munsons, after a traffic incident, and accept an offer of dinner at their home. Logan drives off enforcers from a neighboring corporate farm harassing the family patriarch, Will. X-24, a Transigen clone of Logan, murders Charles and Will's family, stabs Will, and captures Laura. Caliban sets off grenades, killing himself and several Reavers and injuring Pierce. Logan fights X-24, but is overmatched. Will pins X-24 with his truck, but dies from his injuries. Logan and Laura escape with Charles' body.
After burying Charles, Logan passes out. Laura takes him to a doctor, then badgers him into taking her to Eden. There they find Rictor and other Transigen children preparing to cross into Canada. Laura finds an adamantiumbullet Logan has kept since his escape from Weapon X, which he once considered using to commit suicide. Logan decides his job is done, to Laura's disgust.
The children are captured by the Reavers. Logan takes an overdose of a serum given to him by Rictor that temporarily strengthens his physical and healing abilities. With Laura's help, he slaughters most of the Reavers, but the serum wears off. As Pierce holds Rictor at gunpoint, Rice tells Logan, who killed Rice's father years ago while escaping from Weapon X, that no new mutants were born due to a Transigen virus that Rice created. Logan shoots Rice dead and attacks Pierce. X-24, enraged by Rice's death, fights Logan. With their guards distracted, the children kill Pierce and the remaining Reavers. Rictor uses his seismic powers to flip a truck onto X-24. X-24 frees himself and impales Logan on a tree branch, but Laura shoots X-24 dead with the adamantium bullet. Dying, Logan tells Laura not to become the weapon Transigen intended her to be. Laura finally calls him Daddy. After his burial, Laura turns the cross on his grave on its side to create an X before the children leave.

American comic book

Wikipedia
The relaunch included changes to the publishing format; for example, print and digital comics are now released on the same day. New titles were released to bring the number of ongoing monthly series to fifty-two. Various changes were also made to DC's fictional universe to entice new readers, including to DC's internal continuity to make characters more modern and accessible. In addition, characters from the Wildstorm and Vertigo imprints were absorbed into the DC Universe.[2][3]
The New 52 branding ended after the completion of the "Convergence" storyline in May 2015, although the continuity of The New 52 continued. In June 2015, 24 new titles were launched, alongside 25 returning titles, with several of those receiving new creative teams. In February 2016, DC announced their Rebirth initiative with the release of an 80-page one-shot on May 25, 2016, and continuing through late 2016.

Superman

The origin story of Superman relates that he was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, before being rocketed to Earth as an infant by his scientist father Jor-El, moments before Krypton's destruction. Discovered and adopted by a farm couple from Kansas, the child is raised as Clark Kent and imbued with a strong moral compass. Early in his childhood, he displays various superhumanabilities, which, upon reaching maturity, he resolves to use for the benefit of humanity through a "Superman" identity.
Superman resides and operates in the fictional American city of Metropolis. As Clark Kent, he is a journalist for the Daily Planet, a Metropolis newspaper. Superman's love interest is Lois Lane, and his archenemy is the supervillain Lex Luthor. A close ally of Batmanand Wonder Woman, he is typically depicted as a member of the Justice League. Like other characters in the DC Universe, several alternative versions of Superman have been characterized over the years.
Superman's appearance is distinctive and iconic; he usually wears a blue costume with a red-and-yellow emblem on the chest, consisting of the letter S in a shield shape, and a red cape. This shield is used in many media to symbolize the character. Superman is widely considered an American cultural icon.[2][4][5][6] He has fascinated scholars, with cultural theorists, commentators, and critics alike exploring the character's role and impact in the United States and worldwide. The character's ownership has often been the subject of dispute, with Siegel and Shuster twice suing for the return of rights. The character has been portrayed in many media adaptations as well, including films, television series, and video games. Several actors have depicted Superman in motion pictures and TV series including Kirk AlynGeorge ReevesChristopher ReeveDean CainTom WellingBrandon RouthHenry Cavill, and Tyler Hoechlin.

The Court of Owls

Wikipedia

The Court of Owls were created by writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo and feature as Batman's main antagonists in the first two story arcs of The New 52, DC Comics 2011 reboot of their continuity. They are first mentioned in Batman #2 (2011) and make their first appearance in Batman #3 when Batman discovers one of their secret bases of operation, and where they are seen posing with one of their assassins, the Talon William Cobb, in a series of old photographs, finally providing Batman with proof of their existence.

Scott Snyder

At the age of nine, Snyder attended a summer camp where one of the counselors read Stephen King's Eyes of the Dragon to him over the summer, an experience that Snyder says "really jump-started my love of story-telling."[1]He was also influenced by the writing of Denis JohnsonRaymond CarverRick BassJoy Williams, and George Saunders.[1]
Snyder graduated from Brown University in 1998 with a degree in creative writing, and then worked at Walt Disney World for about a year.[2] He initially worked as a custodian, but after he injured his shoulder and started to have some problems with his co-workers, he auditioned and worked as some of the characters.[3] Snyder's Disney World stint strongly influenced his writing; he later recalled, "it did a world of good for my writing ... All the things I ended up writing about, those things that are deeply frightening to me—fear of commitment and growing up, fear of losing loved ones, the wonder and terror of falling in love—all of it was constantly being played out all around me in this weird, cartoonish, magnified way at Disney."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Wikipedia

The film was officially announced at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International before the theatrical release of the first film, along with Gunn's return from the first film, with the title of the sequel revealed a year later in June 2015. The film began principal photography in February 2016 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, Georgia, with many crew changes from the first film due to other commitments. Filming concluded in June 2016. Gunn chose to set the sequel shortly after the first film to explore the characters' new roles as the Guardians, and to follow the storyline of Quill's father established throughout the first film—Russell was confirmed in that role in July 2016, portraying Ego, a departure from Quill's comic father.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiered in Tokyo on April 10, 2017 and was released in the United States on May 5, 2017, in 3D and IMAX 3D. It has grossed $862 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of 2017, while also outgrossing its predecessor which had grossed $773 million. The film received generally positive reviews, particularly for its visuals, soundtrack and cast, though critics deemed it not as "fresh" as the original. A sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is being developed, with Gunn returning to write and direct.

Guardians of the Galaxy (1969 team)

The team first appeared in the partial reprint title Marvel Super-Heroes with issue #18 (Jan. 1969), written by Arnold Drake and penciledby Gene Colan.[2] Despite strong sales on this issue, the Guardians of the Galaxy would not appear again for over five years, in Marvel Two-In-One #4–5 (July–Sept. 1974).[1] The story's writer, Steve Gerber, liked the team enough to use them again in Giant Size Defenders #5 and Defenders #26–29 (July–Nov. 1975). In each case, other heroes such as Captain America, the Thing, and the Defenders aid them in their war against the alien Badoon, necessitating the liberal use of time travel in these stories.
The Guardians were finally given their own series, Marvel Presents, starting with issue #3 (Feb. 1976). Steve Gerber, still handling the writing chores, reflected, "Most of the stories I was scripting were set in the present. I wanted to do something that combined the standard superhero elements with something a little different, so that I could give my imagination a bit more play. We had Dave Cockrum redesign the costumes, we created a new starship for them to pilot, and we revised the premise of the strip, so that they were no longer fighting the Badoon on Earth, and sent them off amongst the stars."[1]Gerber left the series after seven issues, leaving Roger Stern to take over with Marvel Presents #10. The series was cancelled shortly afterwards due to poor sales, with the final issue being #12 (August 1977).[1] This was followed by a series of appearances in Thor Annual #6 (1977), The Avengers #167–177 (Jan.–Nov. 1978) and #181 (March 1979), Ms. Marvel #23, Marvel Team-Up #86 (Oct. 1979), and Marvel Two-in-One #61-#63 & #69 (Nov. 1980). Marvel Two-in-One #69 drastically changed the Guardians of the Galaxy story; due to changes made to the past of one of the members, the future which the Guardians of the Galaxy come from and the mainstream Marvel Universe are permanently separated, becoming alternate timelines to each other.[1] After this, the Guardians of the Galaxy were absent from published stories for over a decade.
In 1989, Marvel editor-in-chief Tom DeFalcodecided to revive the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to cash in on the soaring popularity of the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation.[1]DeFalco worked out a series concept using a new team of Guardians, but when he saw a series proposal for the original team that Jim Valentino had coincidentally been working on at the same time, he green lit Valentino's idea instead.[1] The Guardians' first self-titled comic launched in June 1990 and ran for 62 issues. This series was initially written and illustrated by Valentino, who deliberately gave it an action-oriented, "fun" feel that stood out from the typical "grim 'n' gritty" comics of the 1990s.[1] Though Valentino had plotted the series ahead as far as issue #50, his run was cut short when he co-founded Image Comics. Having taken on two new series and the foundation of a publication company, Valentino asked editor Craig Anderson if he could switch to just writing Guardians of the Galaxy, and in response Anderson dismissed him from the series.[1]
With issue #29 (Oct. 1992) Michael Gallaghercommenced writing the title, and continued until its cancellation with issue #62 (July 1995). According to Kevin West, who became the penciller with issue #30 (Nov. 1992), he and Gallagher worked together closely on the series, employing the Marvel method of creation, and soon became good friends.[1] A spin-off four-issue miniseriesGalactic Guardians (July–Oct. 1994), also by Gallagher and West, appeared during this time. West explained why he did not draw the final issue of Guardians of the Galaxy: "When I heard we were getting the hook, I naturally started looking for a new job. I ended up at Malibu. There was a hold-up getting the Guardiansplot finished so by the time I got it, I had to pass because I had a Malibu deadline to meet. Arrgh. Despite any minor qualms I had, I really did enjoy working on the series."[1]
A second volume was published in May 2008, written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. The title, set in a different timeline, features a new team, drawn from participants in the Annihilation: Conquest storyline.[3] The 1969 team made guest appearances in #12–17 and #25.
A new ongoing series starring the original Guardians, titled Guardians 3000 and written by Abnett, launched in 2014.
